Trechless exchange of harmful drinking water supply pipes made of lead
In 1998 the WHO (World Health Organisation) limited the value for lead in drinking water pipes to 40µg/l in order to improve the protection of consumers against the harmful effects of lead in drinking water. To achieve this goal, more than 40 million house connection pipes made of lead have to be exchanged worldwide.

Technique
The cavity pressure assisted winding technique was especially developed or the trenchless hence simple exchange of of lead house connections. To do so, the cut-off lead pipe is pulled out of the cellar through a special pressure-operated internal pulling hose towards the main pipeline and the new pipe is pulled in simultaneously. The technique can also be applied for plastic pipes.
